Kevin Spacey is embroiled in two sexual misconduct lawsuits: one civil and one criminal. His lawyers are arguing that the 2018 civil suit filed by an anonymous massage therapist should be dismissed.

The masseuse alleges that Spacey touched him without his consent at a private 2016 session at Spacey’s Malibu home. Spacey’s legal team argues that the case should be dismissed in part because the masseuse’s anonymity prejudices the case against the actor.

The brief states that anonymity  “prevents possible unknown third parties with information about Plaintiff and his factual allegations from coming forward with information relevant to Mr. Fowler’s [Spacey’s legal name] defense.”

Allegations against Spacey began surfacing in 2017 when actor Anthony Rapp came forward amid the #MeToo movement, alleging that Spacey made advances on him when Rapp was 14 and Spacey was 26. The story opened a floodgate, with more than 30 men eventually coming forward.

Spacey is also facing a felony sex assault charge in Massachusetts (he pleaded not guilty) and the U.K. is  still looking into six assault allegations against him.
